How to use your average

For a useful average, the usual approach is 2 readings, 1 minute apart, every morning and evening for 7 days. Many guides leave out the first day, so you would enter 24 readings. That is a lot of typing, but 12 or more still gives you a fair picture.

Our 7-day home test walks through it, and the printable log gives you somewhere to write it all down.

What is a good home average?

It depends on your country, your age and your doctor's advice. In the US, the American Heart Association's categories treat 130/80 and above as high blood pressure. UK guidance uses a home average of 135/85 for most adults under 80. If you have been given a personal target, use that.
